Folklore Museum of Asomatos
The Asomatos Folklore Collection is not merely a museum; it is the living memory of the village, a space that safeguards the soul and labor of our ancestors.
The idea was born around 2008, when an old Community warehouse was granted to be converted into a cultural space. The need was great: the material existing in the Byzantine Museum of the Holy Temple of Pamegiston Taxiarchon was valuable, but it did not fit with the ecclesiastical relics, and critically, it did not fit inside the space!
The initial thought was to create a Museum of Local Professions (Trades), which is why you will find tools from various, now defunct, trades of Asomatos here. However, the love and dedication of the residents brought so many objects (often saved from houses that were sold), that the Collection was enriched with every kind of object worth preserving.
Curation and Vision
Responsible for the setup and curation of the Folklore Collection is Presvytera Loukia Kordogianni, who, with personal care and vision, gave life to this space of memory.
How to Visit Us
The space is open to the public, both for individual visitors and groups. To organize your visit and travel through the history of Asomatos, please contact the Holy Temple of Pamegiston Taxiarchon by phone.
